There are many reasons engineers rarely use these display technologies in HMDs. In the next section, we’ll look at another kind of virtual reality display called the workbench. Some, like the VRD and plasma display technologies, might work very well in an HMD but are prohibitively expensive. And I think the third area are really these unanticipated outcomes.
