After you have an unobstructed shot at the walls, clean them with a damp sponge or a dry cloth. After the old caulk is gone, clean the area with paint thinner and let it dry completely. If you don’t have much confidence in your ability to lay down a smooth, even bead of caulk, there are caulk strips on the market that you simply unroll and press into place. Although the common image is of chemical plants made from gleaming steel, many other materials are used in their construction including a wide variety of metals, plastics, glass and rubber. 1.
