The Chevrolet Monte Carlo debuted for 1970 as competition for the Ford Thunderbird. Like other GM models, Monte Carlo suffered in production as a result of a lengthy strike early in the model year. Model choices for the 1982 Chevrolet Malibu were trimmed from fourteen to four, which didn’t help either. The 1983 Chevrolet Malibu drew down the curtain on the Malibu as Chevrolet’s rear-wheel-drive midsize car, but the nameplate would return in the late 1990s on a new sort of Malibu. And learn how the Chevrolet Monte Carlo sustained the tradition of the midsize American coupe into the 21st century. It was still a coupe, still had midsize dimensions, and still was a true Chevrolet.

In its farewell year, the Malibu was actually more popular than it was in 1982, selling just over 117,400 copies. Acetone may be safe for real pearls but may damage the nacre coating over time.
